Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Historically significant, this Christian goal stick was used by Ed Belfour in game #5 and series-clinching game #6 of the 1999 Conference Semifinals against St. Louis. With the original tape on the blade and shaft/knob, additional black “gauze-style” tape remains on the handle, just above the paddle. “Belfour” appears in factory graphics with handwritten notation on the underside stating the stick’s historic origin. Ed has also signed just below the added “eagle” in silver, with the signature somewhat thick and bunched together. Visible game-use includes wear to the bottom section of tape on the blade, and to a few small areas of red paint transfer on the upper shaft. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
In beautiful condition and ready for display, the handwritten notation on the underside reads in full, “RD #2 3-1 #3 (this could be a mistake, as it was game 5 that corresponds to the correct date and score, but it could also mean game 3, as in it was the third game played in the series in Dallas) 5-15-99 vs St. Louis” and the second notation lists “RD #2 2-1 O.T. #6 5-17-99 vs St. Louis”.
