Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The fourth stop during his seventeen-year NHL career, Ed Belfour’s time in Toronto was important, with him setting a franchise record 37 wins in 2002-03. Ed also surpassed the great Terry Sawchuk for all-time wins while with the Maple Leafs. This large group of lumber totals four sticks used by The Eagle while in Ontario. We have examples from CCM (2), Christian and Sher-Wood, with each stick retaining their original tape jobs on the blades and gauze-style tape on the shafts, as well as additional gauze-style tape on the handles just above the paddles. The Christian model has been signed across the blade in marker, exhibiting a nice large signature. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this lot.
Each of the offered sticks feature some variant of “Ed Belfour” on the shafts, either stamped or in factory graphics. Great game-use is exhibited on each, with the Sher-Wood example showing heavy use, including an absolute ton of puck marks littered throughout. Both CCM models also show areas of red goal post paint transfer on the shafts. A collection unto themselves, this group of game-used sticks from a prominent Hall of Famer are sure to please.
