Ed Belfour wore this jersey while securing his spot among the most immortal of goaltenders, surpassing the legendary Terry Sawchuk for all-time career wins. With “Goalie Style” and size tagging in the collar, the photo-matched jersey has additional embroidered Reebok and NHL patches on the back neckline and bottom hem. Styled with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name on nameplate, the jersey also features matching “TML” monogram patches on both shoulders. The garment’s historical significance has been noted on the fight strap, with handwritten “Win #448 vs NYI 12/19/05 Period 3”. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
It was on December 19th 2005 that Ed recorded his 448th NHL win which moved him, at the time, in second place for wins all-time in the NHL. Ed currently sits in third place for wins all-time, in his rightful place with the greatest goalies of the game. Visible game-wear includes a few dark marks on the team crest, with a larger example near the top, as well as additional black marks on both sleeve numbers, and some red paint transfer on the white band of the right sleeve. The MeiGray (2004-05) patch sits on the inside hem, and according to their population report (2005-06), the jersey was "worn in 1st and 3rd periods of win #448 on 12/19/05”. As mentioned, the jersey has been photo-matched from a post-game locker room photo to the black mark on top of crest, to a second on-ice photo showing three black line marks on the right of the crest, and to a third photo showing most of the marks on the team crest, which also shows the black mark on the top of the 0 of 20 on the right sleeve. The jersey was again photo-matched to a November 19th Getty image showing marks on the team crest, and to a Dec. 3rd Getty image showing marks on 2 and 0 of 20 on the left sleeve.
