The blue ink autograph of legendary author Jack Kerouac sits on this vintage cancelled check. A pioneer of the Beat Generation and contemporary of William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, Kerouac had 15 books published in his lifetime and several more after his death in 1969 at the age of 47. Written and signed by Kerouac less than a year after “On the Road” was published, the check features this pioneer of the Beat Generation’s penmanship with check number “9”, the date “June 6, (19)58”, pay to the order of “J. Paticky”, “($)20.00”, and “Twenty” in the same blue ink as Kerouac’s signature. There is a vertical fold crease near the middle and most of the left edge is torn off. Comes with a JSA LOA and an additional COA.
The names of Kerouac and his mother, Gabrielle, are printed on the upper left of the Security National Bank (Northport, N.Y.) check, which has a “PAID +6 16 58” perforation stamp on the upper portion.
“Northport, N.Y. For Deposit Only Julius Patiky Patiky Auctioneers Patiky Auction Rooms” is stamped on the reverse.
