Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Some interesting old NHL game pucks are featured in this stash which dates back to the 1940s and a couple of CCM/Art Ross Tyer biscuits with a small octagonal logo. One is better, with smaller edge chips, nicks and slices while the other’s logo is weak and tough to read, with bigger edge chips to mention. A bigger “National Hockey League” logo, with patent number, dates its puck to the 1958 to 1962 time frame, with a couple of good hunks missing from the front edge. Tired logos are on an Original Six era Maple Leafs puck which also exhibits considerable use/wear, while carrying the most weight are Maple Leafs and Red Wings Converse pucks with rubber logos both front and back. Without a patent number and in appealing chip-free condition, they’re from the ’68-69 season. A little cleaning may also improve St. Louis Blues and Oakland Seals gamers with screened Converse logos on the back, the latter’s back logo partially worn away, the same as on a similar style Boston Bruins puck with partially damaged front logo. Most notable amongst the rest are four Viceroy gamers with the small “CANADA” on the side; Atlanta, Detroit, Minnesota, Vancouver, but with crazing in the team logos, as well as a near mint WHA Toronto Toros Viceroy with the similar tiny “CANADA” on the side. The remaining grab bag may wield a pleasant surprise or two. It’s all about the puck!
