The 1972 Miami Dolphins capped the only perfect NFL season of the Super Bowl era with a 14-7 win over the Washington Redskins at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Dolphins’ victory in Super Bowl VII gave them a 17-0 record that included wins in all 14 of their regular season games as well as playoff victories against Cleveland and Pittsburgh. This 25th anniversary 17-0 Perfect Season 1972 Dolphins team-signed Wilson football from 1997 has its three white autograph panels covered with some 50 signatures from members of that perfect squad, including Griese, Morrall, Kiick, Heinz, Little, Langer, Warfield, Yepremian and coach Shula, among others. Comes with a JSA LOA.
According to our consignor, this team-signed 25th anniversary team-signed football was originally obtained by 1972 Dolphins defensive tackle Bob Heinz. It comes with a lidded plastic case with a clear cover and black two-level pedestal base.
Members of the 1972 Dolphins toast the first loss of the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL every season. In 2008 they had to wait until the end of Super Bowl XLII when the New York Giants defeated the previously undefeated New England Patriots 17-14 at University of Phoenix Stadium. New England finished with an 18-1 record.
