Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The fantastic Showdown TV challenges of the mid-to-late-1970s featured NHL All-Stars competing in pre-taped penalty shot competitions and mini-games that were broadcast during intermission between periods on Hockey Night in Canada. This Showdown jersey was worn by Yvan Cournoyer during one of those televised competitions. With “Cournoyer” on back and his familiar number 12, Yvan has signed the jersey on the back of the nameplate, and it has faded slightly. A great keepsake from both Cournoyer, and from the old glorious Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts. This Showdown Confrontation jersey that was worn by Yvan Cournoyer during the mid-1970s is in very good condition with some staining. Absent of tagging in the collar, there are also discoloured patches in the shapes of squares on both the white sections, and on the lower black edges, and these are most likely from tape having once been adhered to the garment, possibly from a display mounting.
