Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The NHL’s all-time wins and shutouts leader, many people forget that Martin Brodeur could also add being one of only two goalies in NHL history to score a goal in both the regular season and playoffs. This lot contains a Heaton game-used stick as well as a signed and framed Stanley Cup photo. The stick is a Heaton Helite-Six model with the original tape job on the blade and knob and it’s stamped “M. Brodeur” on the upper shaft. “OTT” has been handwritten on the knob, and a date code on the backside just above the paddle reads “30 Nov. 1999". Plenty of game-use is visible with wear and rips to the taped blade, and to some abrasions on the lower part of the paddle. There are also a few small and unobtrusive nails. Martin has added a black marker signature onto the white section of the paddle, and it projects well. Please refer to the Classic Auctions website for details of the accompanying signed photo.
The accompanying framed photo to this lot is an image of Marty hoisting Lord Stanley’s mug, he’s signed the image just above his head in thin silver paint pen, and it stands out well against the dark background. With the image area 15 ½” x 19 ½” and framed to total dimensions of 24 ½” x 28 ½”, an inscription on back shows that this piece was part of the archives of noted photographer Denis Brodeur, and it’s dated Sept. 15th 2005.
