Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015

Incredible! This scarce and amazing Boston Bruins sweater from the early 1930s has more than a few things going for it, including a Hall of Fame pedigree and a rare style that was only used by the team for two seasons, 1932-33 and 1933-34. Any pre-war hockey jersey is a rare find with this unique two-year style even more so! Only two sets of these jerseys were ever made so they are not often seen in the hobby, and this one bears the No. 9 worn by HOFer Harry Oliver during each of those two seasons. A member of the Bruins’ first Stanley Cup champions in 1928-29, Oliver played 16 years of pro hockey, including 11 in the NHL, the first eight with Boston. The “B” crest on the front and “9” on the back are sewn on black on yellow double twill that has faded, with reinforcement stitching to both the team crest and the number. Great vintage team repairs here include several big sewing fixes under each arm, six more repairs on the front and a dozen on the back. Oliver was in great company on these Bruins teams that featured Eddie Shore and fellow HOFers Barry, Clapper, Siebert, Stewart and Thompson. Comes with an LOA from noted Boston Bruins jersey collector Harvey McKenney, and a copy of the original auction sale from Sotheby's more than 20 years ago. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
