Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

The 2001 season marked the third year in F1 for the BAR-Honda team. The team was looking to build off from the 2000 season, which saw them take leaps in development of the car and engine. The team did extensive testing that paid off with Jacques recording ten top 10 finishes with 2 podiums, a third place finish in both the Spanish and German Grand Prix’s and a seventh overall in the F1 drivers’ Championship.
This Bell K1 helmet has been painted in Jacques’ traditional design by Bell S.P.O.R.T.S. Europe and has been tagged “2001-09” with the Bell technicians adding the flags of Austria, Monaco and Canada signifying the helmet was used during 3 Grand Prix weekends. The Austrian GP saw Villeneuve qualify 12th and finish 8th, the helmet then saw action at the Monaco Grand Prix where Jacques started 9th and finished 4th. Jacques then used the helmet for one last time at the Canadian GP, his home race, where he qualified 9th but retired after 34 laps with driveshaft issues.
The helmet shows very nice wear and use with several paint chips on the front. As per all Jacques’ helmets extra eye-port foam has been added and heli-tape covers the top and front vents. The drink tube has been drilled out and is taped-off and the full race radio remains intact. Jacques has applied his signature to the visor which is somewhat hard to see on the tinted visor.
Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 01.09” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
