Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
With WHA players in 1974 selected to play for Canada as opposed to 1972 which only saw those from the NHL, certain individuals who were by-passed in ’72 were able to play against the Russians including Bobby Hull and a 46-year old Gordie Howe. This Team Canada Howe jersey was either issued by the team for a give-away type-scenario, or it's a retail sporting-goods example, as the placement of the back numbers is lower on the actual jersey’s worn in the tournament. With the collar retaining it’s Maska tagging, the jersey features attractive tackle twill adornments including name, numbers, team crest and alternate captain’s “A”. Gordie has signed in the middle of the back “9” with a perfect blue marker signature, with the vintage tie-neck sweater remaining in excellent condition.
