Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Three unique Gordie Howe items are available in this lot including original artwork of the Motor City legend done in 1950 by talented Quebec artist Lucille Audet. Fashioned in pencil, the 6” x 9” sketch of Mr. Hockey is an exceptional likeness with his familiar smile. Both the artist and Howe have signed, with Gordie placing a black pen auto in the bottom left corner. The sketch has been framed (12” x 14”) with the actual letter Howe sent the artist dated Jan. 2nd 1950, where he apologizes for the late reply, and Gordie has finished this letter with a gorgeous full signature. A second letter dated March 15th 1951 and also addressed to the artist is another response from Gordie regarding artwork he received, and he’s ended with just “Gordon”. Early quality Howe signatures like the ones available in this lot are hard to come by.
