Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

Considered the all-time greatest all-around hockey player by many longtime observers, here is Gordie Howe depicted some three dozen times! A rather heavy crease in the lower left corner of Gordie’s coveted Parkhurst rookie card, along with rounded corners, sends it to the F-G range, with however a clean back and no unsightly creases through the image itself being positives. The ’52-53 second year card appears NM but is narrow and a tad short and we spot four other Parkies which exhibit definite trimming. All cards display well, with condition ranging generally from VG to NM and typically better in the 1970s/WHA issues. The ’64-65 “tall boy” is VG, with 1950s’ cards including ’57-58 (EX), ’58-59 (EX) and ’59-60 (G+). An instant collection or interesting dealer inventory is this hoard, with more details on our website.
Other notables include the ’65-66 Topps SP (660 Goals) card, in sharp NM condition save for a tiny chip in the middle of the right border, the ’68-69 OPC insert #22 (part of the puck sticker set) in EX-MT, a ’70-71 OPC All-Star card (#238) at NM+ and the two “Mr. Hockey” cards (’69-70, ’71-72 OPC), also crease-free and EX+ and NM respectively. The four aforementioned trimmed Parkhurst cards are ’60-61, ’62-63 (#s 30, 31) and ’63-64.
