Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Originally based in Minnesota, Northland Ski manufactured sticks used by professionals for decades, and primarily for the American-based NHL clubs throughout the late-1940’s to 1960’s. This lot contains a pair of original store displays featuring Gordie Howe. The first large stand-up display pictures Howe in his usual Red Wings ensemble, looking all business. The second display picture’s a smiling Howe, with Northland advertising text along with the company's logo. At 9 ½” x 13” and with an easel back, the piece is in very good condition with expected wear. Gordie has added a beautiful signature in the lower right with “Best Wishes”.
At 17” x 27” at the largest points, the larger display piece remains in very good condition, with a couple of tape repairs on Gordie’s left ankle and at the heel of his stick. Rarely found, both pieces featuring Mr. Hockey will highlight any Howe, advertising or hockey stick collection.
