Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Among all the hockey icons included in the “Best Player Ever” debate, the toughest of ‘em all is Gordie Howe. The game’s greatest scorer each of the two times he hung up his skates, Mr. Hockey struck fear into the hearts of all his opponents even into his 50s because he could and did take care of himself on the ice. A huge “Best wishes, Gordon Howe” autograph sits on the top left corner of this painting of Gordie in his legendary No. 9 Red Wings uniform. Howe looks ready for anything in this portrait from the latter stages of his career in Detroit, a colorful painting on canvas signed by artist “R. Howard” that displays to 23 1/2" x 17 1/2"as mounted in its vintage wood frame.
