Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Renowned goalie mask artist Frank Cipra did the paint job on Peter Skudra’s photo-matched early-2000s Vancouver Canucks game-worn mask. Skudra used this mask in the 2001-02 regular season and playoffs and early in the 2002-03 season. It is matched to photos of Skudra from both seasons by a variety of paint chips and marks, including the chip in the lighter blue paint on the top of the forehead, a chip to the left of the right screw on the bottom of the cage and the marks in the upper red line above the left eye, among others. Skudra has signed on the chin and Cipra has signed inside the chin. A colorful Canucks game-worn mask from the team’s Orca color scheme of the late-1990s and early-2000s with solid wear and photo matches.
The backplate is not the one that was on Skudra’s mask when he used it in 2001-02, and we are unable to confirm it is the one he used with the mask in 2002-03.
More photo matches include the mark below the strap attachment on the left side of the chin, the big chip on the back edge behind the left ear, the white chip on the blue portion inside the right “eye” on top of the head and two paint chips above the red stripe on the back edge behind the right ear.
