Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Not often seen or offered are these labels that were on the ends of loaves of Wonder Bread some 55 years ago. By collecting five of them, consumers could mail them in, along with an application form available at a grocery store, and become members of the Wonder Sports Club. Those who did received a Wonder Sports Club crest, an NHL team crest and a 5” by 7” photo of one of the featured players (Richard, Howe, Hull, Keon). A welcoming letter was also sent to members and they had a chance to win a trip to a Stanley Cup game – cool. The labels here include both a French and an English Rocket Richard variation, along with Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull examples. They’re approximately 2-3/4” by 2-3/4” and in various conditions. Some plastic wrap is still on the back of the (French) Richard, with a half-inch tear in the bottom edge of the Howe and some residue on the backs from having been removed from the original packaging. Hobby scarcities should intrigue/interest numerous collectors.
