Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Three images of the man who broke Lou Gehrig’s seemingly unbreakable consecutive games played streak and two important milestone tickets combine here for an intriguing and desirable ensemble. Cal Ripken Jr.’s 1982 Donruss rookie card is NM, while a Fleer RC is similar but off-centered top-to-bottom. A full ticket from Cal’s September 6, 1995 record-breaking 2,121st straight game is crease-free and like-new and joined by a less-frequently seen full ticket from an Orioles-Yankees game played September 19, 1998, with the streak coming to an end at a mindboggling 2632 games. The latter ticket has also been preserved in perfect condition, with an 8” by 10” color glossy nicely autographed by the Hall-of-Famer completing the booty.
