Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
While 19th century baseball programs are generally rare, Canadian examples are practically non-existent. The International League can trace its beginnings to the merging of the New York State League with the Ontario League in 1885. This International League program from 1898 features the London Cockneys and the Hamilton Hams, and it’s a one page fold-over style program/scorecard with a number of delightful period advertisements including Smith Bros, with a comical picture of two young boys dressed as contemporary plumbers, and Beltz the hatter picturing a 19th century bowler hat. The back cover features a full ad for the W. Mann & Company’s line of 1898 bicycles. Scored in pencil with a number of other notations, the Hamiltons were victorious on this day winning by a score of 9-7. Some paper loss is present to the lower left bottom corner and to the upper right. Good condition overall.
