Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The mid-1980s to mid-1990s were prosperous times for the Habs, advancing to three Stanley Cup Finals in 8 seasons, winning two. This Montreal Canadiens jersey was game-worn during this period. With Maska Ultrafil tagging in the collar including handwritten “52”, there’s also an additional CCM patch that sits on the back bottom hem. We should note that this jersey was most likely worn by John LeClair in the early-1990s in the preseason (but not 1990-91). This type of jersey was worn by Montreal circa 1988-89, so it could have possibly been worn originally by Craig Ludwig and later recycled for LeClair.
This Montreal Canadiens game-worn jersey shows nice wear including black marks on the front lower band, a large stick mark on the lower back, pilling in both sleeves, and an errant white streak on the team crest. There are also six team repairs present with 1 on the back and 5 on the left sleeve around the elbow/lower cuff area.
