Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016

A somewhat bizarre grab bag is up for grabs here, with all packs having been already opened years ago and then the cards put back into the wrappers and placed back in the display boxes. When checking out a few packs from each box, we spot an off-centered second-year Wayne Gretzky and a Grant Fuhr rookie card, the latter the last in the pack and with the piece of gum stuck to the back. Cards appear pack-fresh but of course, with O-Pee-Chee and its notorious less-than-perfect centering and intermittent rough cuts, that doesn’t always mean NM-MT or MINT, if you follow. Loose cards not in wrappers and from 1980-81 total 45 and include a near mint #250 Gretzky card, a NM-MT Gretz All-Star and an Oilers team leader card picturing Wayne (NM, OC), along with RCs of Michel Goulet and Rod Langway. There are 27 opened packs from ’80-81 (12 cards per pack) and 24 opened packs from ’82-83 (10 cards per pack). The display boxes are not in tiptop shape, with wear and tear(s), but oh, some definite fun and likely some pleasant surprises await the new owner
