Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The modern Ottawa Senators’ first goalie was Peter Sidorkiewicz, who wore this white home gamer during the 1992-93 pre-season before posting a win in the Canadian capital’s first game back in the NHL in 58 years. A pair of Peter’s game-used sticks are team-signed and included here with the jersey, which displays the Stanley Cup Centennial patch worn league-wide during the Senators’ inaugural season and plain black numbers on the back and sleeves that Ottawa only used during the pre-season. Included are a pair of Sidorkiewicz’s Louisville game-used sticks, each team-signed by 20 in bold black marker by the 1992-93 Senators. Comes with Peter Sidorkiewicz’s signed LOA.
The 1992-93 Senators pre-season game-worn jersey has size 56 and Maska flag tags in the back of the neck. Game wear includes black marks on the Senators crest on the front as well as light marks on the right upper back and faint and small reddish-brown stains on the back of the upper left sleeve.
Laurie Boschman, the Senators’ first captain, is among the black marker signatures on the sticks along with the likes of leading scorer Norm Maciver, Jamie Baker, Sylvain Turgeon, Brad Shaw, Mike Peluso, Mark Freer, Rob Murphy, Jody Hull, Darren Rumble, Darcy Loewen and Andrew McBain, among others. “Sidorkiewicz” is stamped on each stick, both of which have “Jan 27 1993” date stamps on the back of the handle. Each stick has Peter’s original tape jobs on the knob and blade, with nice wear to the bottom edge of both blades and loads of red goalpost paint transfer on the upper edge of the paddle and blade, right through the tape job on the heel!
