Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Impressive pair of vintage trophies, first we have a silver-plated handled cup with "Sports D'Hiver" (winter sports) and "Gouret", the French word used by some back in the day for hockey. Donated by "Codere", the 18" high award was for the amateur championship of Sherbrooke Quebec and won by the "Kayser" team in 1933. Anchored to a black-painted metal base, it includes nice thorn/thistle work around the top section, and it has survived in very good condition with tarnishing scattered throughout. Next we have a silver plated trophy that stands nearly 11" tall and features a pair of curved handles on either side of its long and elegant cup. The face of the cup is engraved "W&D" along with crossed hockey sticks and the years 1911, 1912 and 1913, along with "Presented to W.A. Wright to champions St. J. Amateur Hockey League". These fantastic early hockey awards would make for a classy addition to any vintage trophy display.
