Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
A goalie for Canada’s bronze medal 1956 Olympic hockey team, renowned sports photographer Denis Brodeur documented his son Martin’s development into one of the game’s greatest net minders, a lock for the Hall of Fame once he hangs them up. Offered here is this Cooper goalie stick used by Martin during his minor hockey days which was originally from Denis’ personal collection. Young Martin is pictured using this style of goalie stick on his road to leading the New Jersey Devils to three Stanley Cups as well as becoming the NHL’s all-time wins and shutouts leader and winning a pair of Olympic gold medals. This Brodeur gamer from his youth hockey days is in less-than-ideal condition, with wear from possible road hockey use along the bottom of the blade. It is otherwise solid and intact with its original tape jobs.
