Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Black Hawks HOF goalie Tony Esposito’s circa 1973-74 Northland game-used stick has the date of Game 5 of Chicago’s Stanley Cup Playoff semifinal loss to Boston handwritten above his name stamped on the shaft. Tony O’s original tape jobs remain on the blade, which is cracked on the bottom edge, and the top of the custom-shaved paddle. “Gunzo’s” is stamped high on the shaft below his black bulldog tape job on the knob that he covered with wraps of white cloth tape. "Playoffs 4/28/74" handwritten on the shaft references the Black Hawks’ 6-2 loss to the Bruins at Boston Garden before Boston closed out the series in six games two days later at Chicago Stadium.
The fiberglass tape has puckered up on each side of the paddle where “Northland” is printed.
