Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The late Tommy Ivan was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame’s builders category in 1974. Ivan coached the Detroit Red Wings to three Stanley Cup wins in the early-1950s before rescuing the faltering Chicago Black Hawks franchise, where he built a powerhouse and won a Stanley Cup in 1961 as the team’s GM. Obtained from an Ivan family member, included here is Tommy’s 1958 Zippo lighter, which was clearly a gift from fellow deceased HOFer James D. Norris, and the longtime Blackhawks GM’s 1971 Stanley Cup Playoffs press pin. The Zippo with “from Jim Norris” engraved on its outer shell is in near-mint/mint condition in original box and was never used. Ivan’s well preserved 1971 press pin in the shape of the Cup measures 2" in length. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
The lighter should be from 1958 based on the Zippo dot codes on the bottom.
