Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Captivating panoramic photo available here featuring the Magedoma and Canadian Olympic hockey teams. Nicely framed and measuring out to 8" x 20", the image is crisp, with spectators and onlookers seen in the background trying to get a glimpse of the action. Of course notable for being the Olympic Games that Hitler tried to use to further his ideology, the '36 games are also noteworthy as being Great Britain's only Olympic hockey gold. The 1936 Olympic hockey finals saw Canada battle upstart Great Britain, who just happened to be made up of a number of players that while British born, had plenty of experience playing hockey in Canada. Team Canada was represented by the Port Arthur Bearcats. This small panoramic photo features 24 players, including head coach Al Pudas, as well as Maxwell Deacon, Hugh Farquharson, Kenneth Farmer, James Haggarty, Walter Kitchen, Raymond Milton, Francis Moore and Herman Murray. Early Olympic hockey photos are becoming especially hard to find.
