Incredible. Absolutely incredible. An opportunity like this rarely comes along so get ready to do battle in the bidding for Toe Blake’s 1955-56 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens presentation book from the City of Montreal. This unbelievably historic document bearing the original signature of Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau is autographed by 194, including Blake, Maurice Richard, Jacques Plante and the rest of the Stanley Cup champions plus Canadiens alumni with more than 18 deceased HOFers, including rare signatures such as Newsy Lalonde, Joe Malone, Sylvio Mantha and Sprague and Odie Cleghorn! “Toe Blake de la Cite de Montreal” and “Les Canadiens 1955-1956” are printed on the burgundy cover of this 15 1/2" x 11 1/4" book. Drapeau signed in blue fountain pen ink on the first page dated April 14, 1956 presenting the book to Blake with writing in gorgeous calligraphy. Montreal city councilors have signe the following two pages before the 1955-56 Canadiens and their wives signed individually on the next two pages, including the Bouchards, Blakes, Plantes, Beliveaus, Geoffrions, Harveys and Moores, among others. The pages that follow begin with Georges Mantha, followed by the Cleghorns, and on with the likes of Buddy O’Connor, Marty Barry, Sylvio Mantha, Lalonde and Malone among the 35 Canadiens alumni who have signed. Clarence Campbell and Frank Selke are among the guests who have signed the subsequent three pages. Originally from Toe Blake’s personal collection.
