Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Three hockey icons who had mutual respect for one another and who would have been one of the greatest lines of all time had they played together, combine here for a splendid lot. The superb silver paint pen autographs of the late Jean Beliveau and the great Gordie Howe appear on a glossy 11” by 14” 1950s’ image of the two legends, the photo taken before an NHL All-Star game, with the former adding his “Le Gros Bill” nickname and the latter “Mr. Hockey.” Mesmerizing, it is joined by a similar-size color shot of Beliveau and Bobby Hull, with Bobby’s sprawling silver autograph accompanied by “The Golden Jet” and the Canadiens’ great captain duplicating his penmanship of the prior photograph. Both Beliveau and Hull signed their respective Hockey Hall of Fame limited postcards which feature the artwork of Doug West, while a big white-on-blue tackle twill number “4” features yet another perfect Jean Beliveau signature, this one in blue sharpie, with “H.O.F. 1972” added in the lower portion. A Hall of Fame postcard of Howe, not signed, completes the booty which offers several swell display opportunities.
