Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015

A staggering undertaking and achievement is a four-inch thick binder here that houses over one hundred autographed 8” by 10” Be A Player “portraits”. Leading the way is a short-printed Sidney Crosby example that lists these days at $450, with other notables carrying interesting book value being Ovechkin ($100), Malkin ($80), Federov SP ($80) and Lundqvist ($60). Numerous SPs are in the $40-$50 range, with the rest from $20 to $30. Joining the 93 single-signed pieces are 22 of 24 dual signature jobs, highlighted by Kolzig/Ovechkin and Cheechoo/Thornton SP, both at $80. Some intriguing combos, with one triple signature representative listed at $150, that of Blue Jackets’ Nash, Zherdev and Federov. Wonderful eye-candy and great for autograph reference, this bonanza is highly impressive.
It should be noted that the majority of the big cards have been stored in pages marked “Wilson Jones” and not the more conventional “Ultra Pro” pages, with the cards sticking slightly to the pages, resulting in a subtle filmy effect when removed. Experimenting reveals that they can be “wiped” back to their original state. The Crosby and a few others were originally placed in 8 x 10 toploaders.
