Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The 1974 Canada vs Russia series was the second such competition between Soviet and professional Canadian players, the first of course being the 1972 Summit Series. The 1974 tournament followed the same format, with 8 games total being played, four in Canada and four in Russia. This CCM stick was used by Pat Price in the tournament. With the original tape jobs on the blade and knob, “Price” is stamped onto the upper shaft. Neat factory graphics in patriotic red and white proclaim “Canada ‘74”, with matching maple leafs at each end. The front side of the shaft has been sanded down to accept signatures and these total 22 and include Gordie, Mark and Marty Howe, Bobby Hull, Paul Henderson, Gerry Cheevers, Pat Stapleton and others. All have been penned in black marker, and they present very well against the rough sanded background. Some slight water damage has occurred, and this interferes with the signatures on the upper section of the shaft, though most are still legible.
