The stars and stripes forever! Classic Washington Capitals red road gamer was worn during the 1987-88 season by Swedish forward Peter Sundstrom. Size 52 is handwritten in faint ballpoint on the Maska flag tag in the back of the neck. Solid wear shows in four team repairs, board burns on the sleeves, interior pilling around the neck area and upper front, and black marks on the front tail, both sleeves and on the back, including on the bottom of the "1" in the sewn-on #12 in white and blue double twill.
Sundstrom had eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 76 games in his first of two seasons with the Capitals in 1987-88. He had 61 goals and 84 assists for 145 points in 338 regular season games over six NHL seasons with the New York Rangers, Washington Capitals and New Jersey Devils, where he was a teammate of his twin brother, Patrik, with the Devils in 1989-80.
