Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The original signatures of deceased HOFers Lionel Conacher, Happy Day, Frank Boucher, King Clancy, Bun Cook and Red Horner are assembled in this fascinating collection of vintage hockey autographs that also includes a signed picture of legendary goalie Frank Brimsek. Mr. Zero signed above an image of himself in his Bruins uniform on a picture that had been stuck to a photo album page. All of the other signatures are autograph cuts in a variety of inks and pencil pasted on each side of a folded sheet of paper, including single autograph cuts from Day, Boucher, Horner and Clancy on the front, which has a Cook autograph on a cut that also includes Heller and Levinsky. Conacher signed in pencil on a cut of nine mostly Montreal Maroons players.
The front page features glued on autograph cuts from Art Gagne (black fountain pen), Flash Hollett, Bill Thoms, Clancy and Boucher (pencil), Day (blue ink), Wiseman (black ink), Aitkenhead, Gracie and Dillon (pencil), Cook (black fountain pen) with Heller and Levinsky (pencil), and Horner (black fountain pen).
The other side of the folded sheet has autograph cuts that include Keeling, Aitkenhead and Goldsworthy (pencil), Percy Jackson (pencil) with Sonny McManus (black fountain pen), Beveridge (pencil), and the Maroons cut with MacKenzie, Conacher, Trottier, Blinco, Marker, Shields and Wentworth (pencil) with Kerr (blue fountain pen).
The sheet measures 14” x 9 1/4" when unfolded to full length, and 7” x 9 1/4" on its folded page with the back-to-back autograph cuts glued on.
