The late Tim Horton and 1966-67 Maple Leafs captain George Armstrong are among the eight HOFers among the 14 autographs on this multi-signed stick from Toronto’s last Stanley Cup season. Fellow HOFers Frank Mahovlich, Dave Keon, Johnny Bower, Bob Pulford, Red Kelly and Marcel Pronovost are among the signatures in a variety of inks along the shaft, which was varnished to protect the autographs. The Big M’s is a big, bold and beautiful black marker standout in the middle of the shaft! Included is an Art Ross NHL official game puck, a Maple Leafs first logo puck that was used from 1958 to 1962, which has been varnished and has “1967” handwritten on the top of the team logo on the face.
Cool story about how the autographs were obtained on the team-signed stick. Our consignor received the stick for Christmas in 1966, a gift from his father, who worked at a brewery near Maple Leaf Gardens. An beer fridge in the staff lunchroom frequently drew Maple Leafs players and MLG employees so the brewery foreman asked an MLG usher if he could get a stick passed around the Leafs’ dressing room for signatures; here is that stick. There is a “Toronto Maple Leafs 1967 Stanley Cup” label in red affixed to the bottom of the shaft. Others who have signed are Ellis, Pappin, Jeffrey, Conacher, Hillman and Baun. Eddie Shack’s facsimile autograph is stamped on the shaft. The stick has vintage tape jobs on the knob and blade.
