Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Completed in just over 6 months in 1927 at a cost of 2.5 million, the Detroit Olympia was the long-time home of the Detroit Red Wings, and their earlier namesakes. This neat program and ticket from the last game played at the Olympia in 1980 also features a Gordie Howe autograph. Gordie has placed a big and dark blue sharpie signature to the cover of the 8” x 11” program, which featured a game played between the Red Wings and the Detroit old-timers. Some of the players featured in the game and program include Howe, Hall, Abel, Giacomin, Lindsay, Vachon and Pete Mahovlich. The 2 ½” x 6” ticket, which carried a face value of 6 dollars, is in excellent condition with no issues to note. Accompanying these two historic Detroit items is an actual brick from the Olympia! Red in colour and 8” in length, plus 3” high, it is in very good condition with a section of concrete still attached to the bottom section.
