Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

The one and only Wayne Gretzky used this Hespeler stick in his last NHL game with the New York Rangers on April 18, 1999. Gretzky gave every one of his Rangers teammates a stick from his final game, including this one with “26” written in silver paint pen low on the front of the composite shaft. All of Gretz’s teammate game-used sticks from his NHL swan song were prepared this way, including this one, which he gifted to left wing Mike Maneluk, who played four games for the Blueshirts in 1998-99 and wore No. 26. Two-piece gamer features a Hespeler CS Pro composite shaft with “Gretzky” stamped on it and Wayne’s original Jack the Gripper blue foam knob, which is coded on the butt end with “1487” for the number of NHL regular season games Wayne played. The Great One has dated “4/18/99” his blue marker autograph on the front of his fully taped wood blade insert, which has “99” embossed to the left at the top, and “Gretzky” stamped on the front. An awesome piece of hockey history from the Great One’s final NHL appearance. Comes with Shawn Chaulk’s signed LOA and a detailed letter from Mike Maneluk.
