Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Forever in demand and oh so coveted are signet-style rings like this one which features, not a Toronto or Montreal player, but a dapper image of a bench coach or member of the executive! It was in 1949 that the makers of Bee Hive corn syrup introduced these premiums, available for a couple of years through a mail-in offer. Made to fit any finger, they pictured various NHL stars under a clear Lucite dome. This gilt-lacquered treasure includes a raised image of the Stanley Cup on one side, with "NHL", crossed hockey sticks and a puck on the other and shows its age as the photos will attest to. We are at a loss as to who is pictured but some have proposed this ring might feature either the image of Milt Schmidt, Happy Day or Tommy Gorman. Comes complete with a handsome wood presentation box. A fantastic opportunity for serious Bee Hive collectors.
