Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

Collectors of Montreal Canadiens material may not have had a chance at these intriguing special coasters, not available to the public, but rather used at the “Salon des Directeurs” at the Bell Centre, sponsored by the Banque Nationale. They feature classic team photos of Montreal’s Stanley Cup champions over the years, with a complete 24-coaster set reportedly extremely difficult to assemble. The Salon des Directeurs is a high-class affair for corporate sponsors and big-wig types and one must even have a ticket to enter the lounge on game nights. Having a beverage and catching some of the game on big screen TVs is a possibility. Measuring 4” in diameter and in terrific near mint to mint condition, the sturdy cardboard affairs feature two different “backs”. Three include “Passion Nationale” on the reverse (1956-57, ’59-60 and ’64-65), while the rest read “Banque Nationale – Gestion Privèe 1859.” Let’s hear it for 24 Stanley Cups – cheers!
