Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
A curious and likely unique piece, this good old Sher-Wood goalie stick was, get this, signed on both sides by numerous contributors to Philadelphia’s back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in the mid-1970s. The Bobby Taylor stick, with “Taylor” stamped on the upper shaft, does not show game use but the vintage tape is plastered with easily-legible orange ink(!) autographs. Signing both sides, that is to say, signing on each side, were coach and leader Fred Shero, captain and leader Bob Clarke, Bill Barber, Barry Ashbee, Rick MacLeish, Dave Schultz, Gary Dornhoefer, Jim Watson, Ross Lonsberry, Bill Clement, Don Saleski, Bob Kelly, Terry Crisp, Simon Nolet, Ed Van Impe, Tom Bladon, Michel Belhumeur, Bobby Taylor and, on each side of the white-taped handle, Andre Dupont. A few other team member sigs bring the total to 20+ on each side, with the back edge of the paddle date-stamped “1 Feb. 1973.” A must for a big-time Flyers shrine, this treasure is cool!
