Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
The hockey world lost one of its greatest ambassadors when the legendary Jean Beliveau passed away last December. Big Jean’s 1970s multi-signed Victoriaville Pro game-used stick is the model he used in his last NHL season, the same kind he used to score his 500th goal. This beauty with the “4 J. Beliveau” stamp and red, white and blue band of tape low on the shaft was signed by 24 old-timers, including some who didn’t play long in the NHL, and most of whom played at least a few games with the Canadiens, including Beliveau and fellow deceased HOFers Buddy O’Connor, Boom Boom Geoffrion and Elmer Lach. Dickie Moore’s autograph makes it a total of five HOFers on this multi-signed beauty that was possibly used in old-timers games.
Among the others who have signed in black marker along the shaft are Jimmy Orlando, Connie Broden, Floyd Curry, Jacques Deslauriers, Leo Gravelle, Gerry McNeil, Jim Galbraith (minor leaguer), John Ferguson, Glen Harmon, Ken Mosdell, Wally Clune and Skippy Burchell
Beliveau and Geoffrion each signed in a different pen on the heel. The upper band of tri-colored tape is missing on the shaft where the outline remains. Original tape jobs on the knob and blade with nice wear along the bottom edge of the blade.
