Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

The 2001-02 Detroit Red Wings made it back to the summit of the NHL with a five-game win over the Carolina Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Final. Red Wings coach Scotty Bowman won the Cup for the ninth time, breaking Toe Blake’s record for coaches. This spectacular Red Wings 2002 Stanley Cup championship 10-karat gold sample ring weighs approximately 55 grams. Very few real sample rings from 2002 have been available to collectors and this beauty dazzles with shimmering zirconias set in and around the gold Stanley Cup outlined in the tableau, with red stones set in the Winged Wheel crest, and “Stanley Cup Champions” in raised gold on the bezel. “Sample 2002” is spelled out atop the left shank above the Cup with an NHL crest and “19” at the bottom; the right shank has “Red Wings” above “10th Cup” at the bottom. "Intergold" and "10K" are stamped inside the size 10 band. Wonderfully preserved with very light surface scratches.
