Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Spectacular Canadian Football League souvenir is this circa 1970 Wilkinson presentation sword. The CFL logo is displayed on each side of the handle. The blade displays along with the logos of all nine CFL teams on one side along with the Wilkinson logo that reads "By appointment of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Sword Cutlers" and "Made in England", while the other side of the blade has a "CFL 0120" stamp just below the hilt. According to our consignor this sword was purchased from Steven Juba, who was Mayor of Winnipeg from 1957-77. The sword, which measures 34” in length, was presented around the 1970 season by the CFL sponsor at the time, Wilkinson Shaving Cream, and apparently swords were presented to the mayors of each of the nine Canadian cities with CFL teams.
The vintage CFL team logos are nicely preserved on the blade, which has various light scratches and tiny spot marks that do not diminish its display.
