Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
An obscure issue from the good old 1970s saw Topps take the design of its sticker inserts from the previous year and create similar stickers in 1974-75 but on cloth stock. It was an issue in itself, with no player cards but two stickers and a one checklist/puzzle piece coming in a 10-cent wax pack, with 36 packs in this original wax box. Nineteen different stickers and five variations make for a 24-card set, while it took 12 puzzle pieces to form an NHL logo. Hobby veteran Bobby Burrell informs in his “Vintage Hockey Collector Price Guide” that “the display box is extremely difficult to find and packs and wrappers come up occasionally.” They’re all here folks and in as close to perfect condition as you’ll find. Global Authenticated has encapsulated this 36-count box and graded it NM-MT+ 8.5. A little piece of the upper right corner has broken off of the plastic holder but all-in-all, a special hobby opportunity to tempt lovers of high grade/oddball material.
