Gary Bergman’s 1972-73 Charlie Conacher Memorial Trophy is featured among this lot of seven personal trophies from the late NHL defenseman’s personal collection. Bergman’s Air Canada Trophies as the Detroit Red Wings best defenseman in 1966-67 and 1972-73 and his 1975-76 defenseman of the year trophy from the Kansas City Scouts Booster Club are also featured along with his 1959 Winnipeg Braves Memorial Cup Winners plaque, his 1986 Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame certificate, and 1988 Bobby Orr Invitational Winning Team trophy. Comes with an LOA from the Bergman family.
1) 1972-73 Charlie Conacher Memorial Trophy stands a shade under 11” tall from the bottom of the wood base to the remnants of the legs of the broken and missing statue on top, the plaque with Bergman’s name and “Detroit Red Wings, 1972-73” has come unglued from the front of the upper wood portion of the trophy. Bergman and L.A. Kings forward Jimmy Peters Jr. were co-winners of the annual award presented to an NHL player for outstanding humanitarian contribution, which was the precursor to the King Clancy Memorial Trophy;
2) 1966-67 Air Canada Red Wings Best Defenseman Trophy stands 16 1/2" tall measured from the bottom of the wood base to the remnants of the legs of the broken hockey player statue, which is included. (The trophy would stand about 20” tall with the broken hockey player statue atop, plaque on the front of the wood base has Bergman’s full name and the season;
3) 1972-73 Air Canada Red Wings Best Defenseman Trophy stands just under 15” tall, the plaque on the front of the wood base has Bergman’s full name and the season, the hockey player statue has a broken and missing stick;
4) 1958-59 Winnipeg Braves Memorial Cup Winners plaque has a plaque attached with “G. Bergman” engraved on it, wood plaque measures 7” x 5 1/4", the Braves won the league championship, Abbott Cup and Memorial Cup in 1958-59;
5) 1975-76 Kansas City Scouts Defenseman of the Year Trophy stands 22” tall;
6) 1988 Bobby Orr Invitational Trophy stands 7 1/2” tall with Bergman’s name and the rest of his fivesome on the plaque on the front;
7) Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame certificate is dated Sept. 27, 1986 and comes with the 5th annual induction dinner program from the ceremony that day.
