The late Gary Bergman established himself as a member of Team Canada 1972 who made crucial contributions to the squad of NHL All-Stars’ ultimate success. The rugged Detroit Red Wings defenseman was one of seven members of the team who played all eight games of the 1972 Canada-Russia Series. From Bergman’s personal collection, offered are his original Team Canada 1972 blazer and a commemorative Summit Series frame featuring the blazer’s original breast pocket crest displayed at the bottom below a replica of Gary’s Team Canada #2 jersey. Bergman’s name and the date “9/8/72” are typed on a label inside the inner right breast pocket, and the crest can be taken out of the frame and sewn back on the blazer. Comes with an LOA from the Bergman family.
The blazer measures out to approximately a size 40. “Creation Baron” tagging is sewn on the lining outside the inner right breast pocket, and “Tricots Jean Maurice Double-Knit 100% polyester” tagging is sewn on the lining outside the inner left breast pocket. There are two maple leaf buttons on the front and one on each sleeve cuff.
The appealing wood frame measures 40” x 32” with “Bergman Team Canada 1972” and “Team Canada 1972 Team of the Century” pucks on either side of Gary’s original Team Canada blazer crest at the bottom, below the AK replica jersey.
