Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
The rare and very desirable Team Canada 1972 paperweight from the Canada-Russia series is featured in this lot of Summit Series items from the late Gary Bergman’s personal collection. Also included are the scarce “Mockba 1972” pin with the Soviet and Canadian flags on it, a Game 1 souvenir Fleur de Lys tray from the series opener at the Montreal Forum, and a set of 41 vintage Team Canada media photos. Presented to the Detroit Red Wings defenseman, the paperweight features a hockey player encased in one-inch thick Lucite that stands four inches tall, with “Team Canada 1972” in gold lettering under the statue. These rare Summit Series pieces come with an LOA from the Bergman family.
The rectangular Moscow 1972 pin measures 1” x 1 5/8” with the Soviet and Canada flags on the top and a puck between “Mockba” and “1972” on the bottom;
The souvenir plate measures just under 5” in diameter with “1er match Canada-U.R.S.S.” and “Jules Perrier” and “Montreal, Que., 2 Sept. 1972” handwritten in white on the edge of the reverse;
The 41 vintage Team Canada 8x10 media photos include injured defenseman Bobby Orr and junior hockey Team Canada members Billy Harris, John Van Boxmeer and Michel “Bunny” Larocque. The photos are all stuck together along the left corner and side, and we are unsure if they can be unstuck from each other. The right side of the image with the players posed in full uniform are nice and could be cut off and displayed, if so desired.
