Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

Terrific and seldom offered souvenir from the epic Canada-Russia battle of 1972, this high quality Omega Speedmaster Professional model watch was presented to the late Gary Bergman. One of only about 50 made for Team Canada 1972 players, management and officials, this extremely rare Omega watch from the Bergman’s personal collection is the lone award that was presented to team members following their victory over the Soviet Union in the legendary Summit Series. "Team Canada 1972 Gary Bergman" is engraved on the back alongside the Omega Speedmaster logo. The watch, which displays obvious proud wear, can be wound-up and appears to be keeping time. Extremely scarce, this special keepsake is one that is rarely offered for public auction. Comes with an LOA from the Bergman family.
This historic watch displays plenty of wear including scratches and scuffs to metal casing and the crystal, which has a chip to the outer edge at the 7 o’clock position. The winding crown seems to be in working condition, and the hour, minute and second hands all seem to be properly working. The upper push button, on the top right, seems to be working properly, while the lower push button on the lower right does not. The center second hand, minute register and hour register all seem to be properly working. The clasp on the wristband does not close tight.
