Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Terrific circa-1950s-‘60s vending machine originally would have been atop an iron stand, with a coin and a crank enabling one to have a chew of a gumball while checking out a hockey or other sport or non-sport card pulled from one of two slots. Oh, to be able to go back in time! Raised lettering on the front of the metal machine reads “Premiere Gum and Card Vendor - Mfg. By Oak Mfg. Co. Inc. California.” We’re not sure whether the device is in working order, with the original keys to lock the lift-off top and unlock the little rear door to retrieve the coins not present. The top is not locked shut and reveals two card weights/holders inside. A 5-cent price tag in the gumball window looks to have replaced the original, while chips/scrapes in the paint mostly affect the lid. Swell bonuses are the cards of Hall-of-Famers Andy Bathgate and Bob Pulford .
