Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

A Montreal Canadiens team photo collector’s delight, this ensemble stars Habs teams from the 1940s, led by the Punch Line and goalie Bill Durnan, the latter wearing the captain’s “C” (along with Toe Blake), in a panoramic (3-1/2” x 9-1/2”) Rice photo of the 1947-48 squad. A seldom-seen Le Petit Journal original (matted and framed) of the same team includes rookie Doug Harvey, while a similarly done up original of the ’46-47 Habs is equally captivating. The ’45-46 Stanley Cup champs appear in a 7” by 9-1/2” college of full-body poses, (“E. Suter” in the corner), with the ’44-45 team featured on a 7” by 11-3/4” sepia-tone picture on thin card stock and crease-free. A Millar Studio photo of a Dupuis Freres store front window display hails the ’45-46 champs, with the ’30-31 and ’49-50 teams pictured in second generation vintage photos, also 8” by 10”. In a word, fantastique!
