Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

Big, bold framed display is just like the Big Bam himself, the one and only Babe Ruth. The Bambino’s portrait sits front and center in this huge 33” x 40 1/2" frame that tastefully displays an original 1962 Spalding Hall of Fame Series store display on heavy cardboard stock. The image features a montage of the legendary slugger’s exploits surrounding his portrait, including his mythic “Called Shot” in the 1932 World Series, the whole outlined by perforated edges with tabs and inserts to facilitate the appearance of a wooden frame. The Babe’s career accomplishments are detailed in a box at the bottom. The display measures about 27 1/2" x 20 1/8” and is mounted recessed within another narrow inner frame that separates the salmon-colored matte from the elaborate wood frame. Wonderfully preserved overall, this framed display has a very light horizontal crease through the middle and the outer wood frame has a few nicks and dings to the edges that do not diminish its display.
